Ty Mawr Country Hotel
A delightful 15th Century Country House Hotel in the heart of Wales's beautiful countryside, Ty Mawr is a converted farmhouse where a warm welcome, excellent food and great hospitality await.
Nestling in the Cothi Valley's stunning Brechfa Forest, Ty Mawr is an ideal base for visiting the multitude of gardens, castles and historic towns in the area. For centuries people have come to this part of the world to walk, explore, cycle, breathe the fresh clean air and drink in the spectacular views.
Ty Mawr is a Country Hotel and Restaurant situated in the small village of Brechfa, a rural but accesible location only a 30 minute drive from the end of the M4.
The farmhouse was tastefully renovated over 30 years ago and many of the original features still remain. This intimate, cream-washed country hideaway has everything that you would expect from a property dating from the 15th Century - thick stone walls, low ceilings, open fires, tiled floors and old wooden beams. All rooms in the hotel, apart from the bar, are non-smoking.
Ty Mawr is set in an acre of its own land with the River Marlais running through the bottom of the garden. The garden is mostly laid to lawn with mature trees and a terraced area where guests can enjoy morning coffee, afternoon tea or a pre-dinner drink whilst listening to the sound of the brook, the sheep bleating in the surrounding hills and watch the buzzards circling.
Ty Mawr has a growing reputatio for its good food which relies on local, seasonal ingredients to produce a daily changing menu, all freshly-cooked to order.
